Big-bore power in a rifle that barely tips the scale, that is the whole idea behind the Ridgeline Scout in .450 Bushmaster. Christensen Arms took the proven Ridgeline formula and shrunk it into a fast-handling carbine built around a 16 inch, match-contour 416R stainless barrel wrapped in aerospace-grade carbon fiber. The wrap keeps the barrel stiff and helps shed heat without adding weight, and the whole package comes in light enough that you will forget it is on your shoulder until a deer steps out.
The .450 Bushmaster is a close-to-medium range cartridge at heart, which means a short barrel gives up very little while making the rifle far easier to swing in a blind, thread through brush, or slide behind the seat of a truck. The button-rifled, free-floated barrel wears a removable black nitride 3-prong flash hider on a threaded muzzle, so hanging a suppressor or another muzzle device is a five-minute job. Between the short barrel and the threaded muzzle, this thing was built with a can in mind.
Christensen did not skimp on the touchpoints. The TriggerTech flat-shoe trigger is a single-stage design with a short, crisp break that is adjustable to your liking, and it makes wringing accuracy out of a lightweight rifle a whole lot easier. The precision-machined receiver runs a spiral-fluted bolt with a skeletonized handle and oversized knob that is easy to work with gloves on, and it feeds from AICS-pattern detachable magazines with a tactical-style mag release. Up top you get a 0-MOA Picatinny rail ready for your optic, plus a forward rail section that doubles as a barricade stop or bipod mount.
The tan carbon fiber composite sporter stock with black webbing is spot-bedded with integrated pillars, weatherproof, and finished with a recoil pad that takes some sting out of the big 45-caliber round.
