Description

Anyone who has packed a rifle up a ridge at 10,000 feet knows the math: every ounce you shave off the gun is an ounce of water, glass, or meat you can carry instead. That is the whole idea behind the Ridgeline FFT. Christensen Arms took their proven Ridgeline platform and applied Flash Forged Technology, a compression molded carbon fiber process that strips out the internal filler weight found in traditional composite stocks. The result is a monocoque shell stock that runs about a full pound lighter than the standard version while staying stiff where it matters, with carbon fiber bedding pillars and spot bedding keeping the action locked in place shot after shot.

A 6.5 PRC Built to Earn Its Keep

The chambering is a natural fit here. The 6.5 PRC pushes high BC bullets fast enough to stay honest way out past where most hunters will ever shoot, and it does it without beating you up. The 20 inch barrel is a carbon fiber wrapped 416R stainless tube with a 1:8 twist, button rifled, match chambered, and fully free floated. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 and wears a removable stainless side-baffle brake that takes the edge off recoil, or spin it off and run a suppressor. Feeding comes from an internal magazine with a hinged floorplate, good for 3+1 in this magnum chambering.

Details That Show Up on the Ridgeline FFT

The bolt is spiral fluted with a skeletonized handle and an FFT carbon bolt knob, and the floorplate gets the same carbon treatment. A TriggerTech trigger breaks clean and crisp, which is a big part of why Christensen backs this rifle with a Sub-MOA guarantee. The receiver is drilled and tapped for Remington 700 pattern bases, so mounting glass is as simple as it gets, and a two-position safety keeps the controls familiar.

Why the Ridgeline FFT Makes Sense

At around 5.3 pounds before optics, this rifle was made for backcountry elk, high country mule deer, and any hunt where the truck is a long way behind you. Light rifles that still shoot tight groups are rare. This one does both.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Ridgeline FFT suppressor ready?

Yes. The 20 inch barrel is threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard pitch for most 6.5mm and .30 caliber suppressors and muzzle devices. The factory side-baffle brake spins off easily, so you can swap on a can or a thread protector without any gunsmithing.

How light is the Ridgeline FFT compared to the standard Ridgeline?

The FFT version comes in around 5.3 pounds bare in 6.5 PRC, which is roughly a full pound lighter than the original Ridgeline. Most of that savings comes from the Flash Forged Technology stock, which uses a hollow monocoque carbon shell instead of a filled composite. The FFT bolt knob and floorplate trim a little more.

What scope mounts fit the Christensen Arms Ridgeline FFT?

The receiver is drilled and tapped for Remington 700 pattern bases, which is about as universal as it gets. Any 700 short action rings, rails, or bases will work, so you have a huge selection of mounting options for whatever glass you want to run.

Will a 20 inch barrel hold back the 6.5 PRC at longer ranges?

You give up a modest amount of velocity versus a 24 inch tube, typically in the neighborhood of 75 to 100 fps, but the 6.5 PRC has plenty in reserve. With modern high BC bullets you still have an effective big game cartridge well past 500 yards. For a rifle built to be packed into rough country, the shorter, handier barrel is a trade most hunters are glad to make.
