Description

Most .338 Lapua rifles are boat anchors. That's just the nature of the cartridge, which was built to reach way out past where standard magnums give up. Christensen Arms took a different approach with the Modern Precision Rifle, pairing a 416 stainless barrel wrapped in aerograde carbon fiber with a 7075 billet aluminum chassis to keep the whole package around eight pounds bare. For a magnum chassis gun with a 27 inch tube, that's genuinely light, and your shoulders will notice the difference on the walk in.

What the MPR .338 Lapua Brings to the Bench

The barrel is button rifled with a 1:9.3 twist that stabilizes the heavy 250 to 300 grain match bullets this cartridge was designed around, and the muzzle wears a removable stainless side-baffle brake on 5/8×24 threads that takes real bite out of recoil. Pull the brake and you've got a standard thread pitch ready for a suppressor. Feeding comes from a detachable AICS-pattern magazine holding five rounds, and the receiver ships with a 20 MOA rail so you have plenty of elevation left in your scope for true long-range work. The TriggerTech flat trigger is adjustable from roughly 2.5 to 3.5 pounds and breaks clean right out of the box.

A Folding Chassis That Earns Its Keep

The stock folds against the action on a locking hinge, which knocks a good chunk off the overall length for transport, and Christensen's MagneLock technology holds it shut so it isn't flopping around in the truck. Length of pull and the carbon fiber comb both adjust to fit you, the free-floating carbon fiber handguard is M-LOK ready for bipods and accessories, and the grip accepts standard AR-pattern replacements if you want to swap it. Black Nitride on the action and brake with anodized black on the chassis keeps everything protected and looking sharp.

Every MPR carries Christensen Arms' Sub-MOA accuracy guarantee, so the precision is baked in from the factory. Whether you're stretching steel past a mile or building a serious long-range hunting rig, this one has the bones to do it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Christensen Arms MPR .338 Lapua suppressor ready?

Yes. The 27 inch barrel is threaded 5/8×24, which is a common pitch for .338 caliber suppressors and muzzle devices. Just remove the factory side-baffle brake and thread on your can. Keep in mind a .338 Lapua without the brake will have noticeably more recoil, so a suppressor that tames some of that is a nice trade.

Does the MPR come with an accuracy guarantee?

It does. Christensen Arms backs the Modern Precision Rifle with their Sub-MOA guarantee, meaning it's built to shoot under one MOA with quality match ammunition. The carbon fiber wrapped barrel, match chamber, and TriggerTech trigger all contribute to getting there without extra gunsmithing.

What magazines does the Christensen Arms MPR use?

The MPR feeds from AICS-pattern detachable box magazines, and one 5-round mag ships with the rifle. Since AICS is the most common precision rifle magazine footprint out there, finding spares in .338 Lapua length is straightforward from brands like Accuracy International and MDT.

Does the folding stock on the MPR adjust for fit?

Yes, the chassis offers an adjustable length of pull and an adjustable carbon fiber comb, so you can dial in proper eye alignment behind a big scope. The stock folds on a locking hinge and Christensen's MagneLock system keeps it secured against the chassis when folded, which shortens the rifle considerably for cases and truck storage.
