Most revolvers fire from the top chamber of the cylinder. The Chiappa Rhino does the opposite, sending the round out of the bottom chamber so the bore sits nearly level with your hand and forearm. That one design choice changes everything about how this gun behaves when it goes off. Recoil comes straight back instead of flipping the muzzle skyward, so your sights settle back on target fast. In a soft-recoiling cartridge like 9mm, the effect is almost comical. This thing just does not move much.

What Sets the Rhino 50SA Apart

This is the single action version of the Rhino, which means you cock it for each shot and get a light, crisp trigger break every time. The lever on the back that looks like a hammer is a cocking device for the fully enclosed internal hammer, and a visible indicator lets you know when the gun is cocked. The frame is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum alloy with a black anodized finish, keeping total weight to a very manageable 1.97 pounds even with the 5 inch steel barrel. The flat-sided six-shot cylinder trims width off the gun, and the vent rib barrel with an integrated bottom rail gives you room for a light or laser if that suits your setup.

Shooting the Chiappa Rhino 9mm

Since 9mm is a rimless cartridge, the Rhino runs on moon clips, and Chiappa includes three of them plus a shell removal tool in the box. Loading a full clip of six at once beats feeding chambers one at a time, and ejection is just as quick. The sight setup is genuinely good for a revolver: a red fiber optic up front paired with a rear that adjusts for both windage and elevation, so you can dial it in for your preferred load and hold dead on. Medium walnut grips give it a warm, classic look against the black frame and fill the hand nicely.
