Yes. Like any .357 Magnum revolver, the Rhino 30DS handles .38 Special without any modification. It's a great way to keep range sessions cheap and comfortable, and with the Rhino's low bore axis, .38s feel remarkably soft out of this gun.
The low barrel position lines the bore up with your wrist and forearm instead of sitting above your hand. That geometry sends recoil straight back rather than rotating the muzzle upward, which dramatically cuts muzzle flip and makes fast follow-up shots easier, especially with magnum loads.
The external piece that looks like a hammer is actually a cocking lever. The true hammer is internal, and the lever is used to cock it for single action fire. A small red indicator pin shows when the gun is cocked, and the lever returns to its rest position after cocking.
No, the cylinder chambers rounds normally and the extractor works without them. The three included moon clips just make reloads faster and let you eject all six cases at once. The included removal tool makes loading and unloading the clips easier on your fingers.
