The idea behind the M6 goes back to the old military survival guns issued to aircrews, and Chiappa's version takes that concept and gives it a proper update. You get an 18.5 inch 12 gauge barrel stacked with an 18.5 inch .22 WMR barrel, each fired by its own trigger. No selector switch to fumble with, just pull the trigger that matches the job. Shot shell for birds and close work, a flat shooting rimfire magnum for small game at distance. Push down on the trigger guard and the whole gun breaks open and folds in half, which is what makes it such an easy companion in a pack, behind a truck seat, or stashed with your camp gear.
The skeletonized steel buttstock wraps around a molded polypropylene foam insert that holds three 12 gauge shells and five rimfire cartridges, so a reload is always riding with the gun. A cleaning kit tucks into the stock too, which is a smart touch for a firearm built to live outdoors. All that utility comes in at roughly 5.8 pounds, with an overall length of 34.6 inches when it's open and ready.
Up top you get an adjustable M1 carbine style rear sight paired with a fixed red fiber optic front, a combination that's quick to pick up even when the light starts fading.
