Left-handed folks have been making do with right-handed revolvers forever, working the cylinder release with the wrong hand and reloading awkwardly. Charter Arms decided to fix that instead of ignoring it. The Southpaw is a fully reverse-configured version of the Undercover Lite, meaning the cylinder release sits on the right side of the frame and the cylinder swings out to the right. If you shoot left-handed, everything about opening, dumping, and reloading this revolver finally works the way your hands naturally move. Charter was the first company to build a genuinely left-handed wheelgun, and it still stands nearly alone in that department.
The frame is machined from 7075 aircraft-grade aluminum, which keeps the whole package at a feathery 12 ounces without giving up strength. This version pairs a pink anodized frame with a matte stainless 2 inch barrel and cylinder, so you get corrosion resistance where it counts and a look that stands out from the sea of black snub-noses. The black finger-grooved rubber grip fills the hand nicely and takes some of the sting out of shooting such a light gun. At 6.75 inches overall, it disappears in a bag or on the hip.
This is a five-shot double action/single action revolver chambered for .38 Special, and the traditional spurred hammer gives you the option of cocking it for a lighter, crisper single action pull.
