A .380 revolver sounds a little unusual until you shoot one. The .380 ACP cartridge was designed for short barrels, so you lose almost nothing out of a 2 inch snub, and the recoil is noticeably softer than .38 Special out of a gun this light. That is the whole idea behind the Charter Arms Coyote. At just 14 ounces with its 7075 aluminum frame, it carries like a pocket pistol but runs like a classic five-shot wheelgun, with a swing-out cylinder, exposed hammer, and true double action, single action trigger. This version dresses it up with a pink anodized frame set against a high-polish stainless barrel and cylinder, finished off with checkered rosewood grips.
Since .380 ACP is a rimless round, the Coyote loads and ejects with full moon clips, and two TK Custom clips come in the box. Think of them as a speedloader and extractor in one. Drop a loaded clip in, and when it is time to reload, the ejector kicks all five empties out together. A loaded clip is flat, light, and slips into a pocket easier than most speedloaders. The 2 inch barrel is ported on both sides of the front sight to tame muzzle flip, and the 8-groove rifling helps wring accuracy and velocity out of the short tube. Diamond cuts on the barrel underlug trim weight and add a bit of style while they are at it.

That makes the Coyote easier to shoot well, especially for newer or recoil-sensitive folks. It also means any .380 ammo on the shelf performs as intended, no short-barrel loads needed.
You should. Since .380 ACP is rimless, the ejector star cannot grab the cases without a moon clip, so ejection and the most reliable ignition depend on them. Two TK Custom moon clips ship with the revolver, and extras are inexpensive and available from Charter Arms. On the plus side, a loaded clip works as a flat, pocketable speedloader.
The Coyote is built on Charter's Undercover-size frame, so holsters made for the Undercover fit it, and most Smith & Wesson J-frame holsters work as well. That opens up a huge selection of pocket, IWB, and belt options. Grips designed for the Undercover platform generally fit too.
Yes. The ports on either side of the front sight vent gas upward to fight muzzle flip, which matters on a 14 oz revolver.
