Small-frame .357 revolvers have stuck around for good reason, and the Charter Arms Mag Pug remains one of the better values in that class. Model 73524 takes the standard stainless Mag Pug and adds Crimson Trace Lasergrips straight from the factory. Grab the gun with a normal firing grip and the pressure switch lights up a red dot right where the muzzle is pointed. In low light, or any time lining up fixed sights in a hurry gets tricky, that laser makes a real difference. The grips run on a small battery, and windage and elevation are adjustable so you can zero the dot to your preferred load.
A 23 ounce all-stainless build and a ported 2.2 inch barrel take a lot of the sting out of full-power .357 Magnum. The porting vents gas upward to fight muzzle flip, and the rubber Lasergrips soak up what's left. If you'd rather practice with something softer, it runs .38 Special and .38 +P all day, which keeps range sessions affordable and comfortable. Underneath it all is Charter's one-piece frame design that locks the cylinder yoke directly into the frame instead of relying on a small retention screw, plus a full hammer block safety so the hammer can't fall unless the trigger is fully to the rear.
The traditional spurred hammer gives you a true double action and single action revolver. Carry it and run it double action, or thumb the hammer back for a lighter, crisper pull when you have time to aim. At just over seven inches long with a five-round cylinder, it rides well in a belt holster or a bag without printing like a full-size gun. The matte stainless finish shrugs off sweat and weather, which matters on a revolver that's going to live close to your body. Yes. Like any .357 Magnum revolver, the Mag Pug also chambers .38 Special and .38 +P. A lot of owners practice with cheaper, softer-shooting .38s and load full-power .357 Magnum for carry or home defense. Just remember to zero the laser with the load you plan to keep in it.
There's a pressure switch built into the front of the grip, so the laser activates the moment you take a natural firing grip. No buttons to hunt for under stress. It runs on a small battery and the dot is adjustable for windage and elevation so you can dial it in at the range.
It's more manageable than you'd expect from a snubnose. The 2.2 inch barrel is ported to vent gas upward and cut muzzle flip, the all-stainless frame adds recoil-soaking weight at 23 ounces, and the rubber Lasergrips cushion your hand. Magnum loads still have some bark, but it's very shootable for a gun this size.
