Up top, a fiber optic front sight grabs light in dim, early-morning conditions, and the receiver wears a Picatinny rail so adding a red dot is a five minute job. That combo matters, because a lot of turkey hunters these days run an optic to keep tight patterns centered where they belong.
The metalwork gets a Flat Dark Earth Cerakote finish over a steel barrel and lightweight aluminum receiver, which is a serious upgrade in corrosion resistance over plain bluing. The checkered synthetic stock and forend are dipped in Mossy Oak Bottomland, a pattern that flat-out disappears against hardwoods and early season cover. No wood to swell, no finish to baby, just wipe it down after a soggy hunt and go again.
Underneath it all is a straightforward pump action with a 4+1 capacity tube magazine, single trigger, and a manual thumb safety right where you expect it. Pump guns stay popular in the turkey woods for a reason: they cycle any load you feed them and there's not much to go wrong. For the hunter who wants a dedicated turkey setup without emptying the wallet, the 301 Turkey checks the boxes that count.
Yes, and it's one of this model's best features. The receiver comes with a Picatinny rail already installed, so most micro red dots or reflex sights bolt right on without drilling, tapping, or hunting down adapter plates. If you prefer irons, the fiber optic front sight works well on its own.
