The Champion Vanquish was built from the ground up with the range in mind, and it shows in how it handles sound. Each cup was acoustically modeled on actual gunshot reports, so the muffs know the difference between a muzzle blast and the guy next to you asking to borrow a mag. When a shot goes off, Safe Level Sound Compression kicks in with a refresh time under one millisecond and drops the report down to a safe level, then hands your hearing right back so you're not left in silence between strings.
Two omnidirectional microphones pull in the ambient sound around you and pump it through two full dynamic range HD speakers, giving you about 3x amplification of low-level noise. That means normal talking, footsteps, and range calls come through natural and clear while the harmful stuff gets clamped. The mics are also tuned to cut down wind noise, which is a nice touch if you spend time on an outdoor line or in the field. With a 22 dB Noise Reduction Rating, the Vanquish sits right in the sweet spot for most pistol and shotgun work.
This is the lithium-ion rechargeable version, so there's no digging through a drawer for AAAs. A full charge gives you around 12 hours of run time, and an automatic shutoff powers the muffs down after three hours if you forget to switch them off, which saves your battery for the next trip. A dial on the left cup handles volume without any fussy menus.
The cups use a slim, low-profile shape that's designed to stay out of the way of your gun stock, so cheek weld stays consistent shot after shot. Acoustic foam padding and a lightweight, durable headband keep things comfortable through a long session, and the whole thing folds down flat when it's time to pack up and head home. In gray, it's a clean, no-nonsense look that works whether you're at the trap field or the indoor bay.
This version of the Vanquish runs on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that comes with the muffs, so you don't need to keep AAAs on hand. A full charge gets you roughly 12 hours of use. There's also an automatic shutoff after three hours to keep you from draining the battery if you leave them on.
The Vanquish carries a 22 dB Noise Reduction Rating. That's a solid all-around level for most pistol, rifle, and shotgun range work. For very loud indoor sessions or magnum loads, some folks like to double up with a set of foam plugs underneath.
Two omnidirectional microphones pick up the sound around you and play it back through two HD speakers, so you can hear range commands and conversation clearly. When a gunshot goes off, Safe Level Sound Compression reacts in under a millisecond and drops that loud report to a safe level. It hands your hearing back the instant the noise passes, so you're not stuck in silence.
The ear cups use a slim, low-profile shape specifically designed to minimize interference with a gun stock, which helps keep a consistent cheek weld. That's a big plus for long guns and shotgun shooters. The muffs also fold down flat for easier storage and transport.
