Description

The Carlson's 19776 is a Full constriction sporting clays choke tube built for 12 gauge guns that run the Win Choke thread pattern. It squeezes your pattern down for those longer crossers, going-away birds, and any station where you need to keep the pellets together downrange. If your factory tube is throwing patchy patterns at distance, this is the kind of upgrade that pays off on the scorecard.

Carlson's machines these from 17-4 stainless bar stock, so corrosion and long-term wear are not something you'll worry about. What sets the Sporting Clays line apart is the parallel section inside the tube. It's about 25% longer than what you find on a lot of standard chokes, and that extra length is what helps it settle the shot into a tighter, more even pattern than a conventional flush tube. It's the same reason a lot of clay shooters and bird hunters keep a set of these in the bag.

What the 19776 Fits

This tube threads into Winchester, Browning Invector, Mossberg 500, Weatherby, and Savage 12 gauge barrels that use the standard Win Choke system. Worth noting: Winchester SX-2 and SX-3 shotguns use Browning Invector Plus tubes, so those won't take this one. If you're not sure what your barrel is threaded for, check the markings or match it to your owner's manual before ordering.

Running Shot Through the Carlson's Full Choke

Lead, copper plated, nickel, Hevi-Shot, bismuth, tungsten, and steel are all fair game in this tube. One thing to keep in mind with a Full: don't run steel shot larger than BB through it, and Carlson's advises against pushing steel faster than 1550 fps through the Full or Extra Full constrictions. The end of the tube is knurled so you can back it out by hand, and the constriction is laser marked right on the rim so you always know what's screwed in.

As with any choke, the smart move is to pattern it with the exact load you plan to shoot. Different shells behave differently through the same tube, and a few minutes at the pattern board tells you more than any chart. Carlson's backs these with a lifetime warranty, and they're made in the USA.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Carlson's 19776 fit my shotgun?

It fits Winchester, Browning Invector, Mossberg 500, Weatherby, and Savage 12 gauge barrels that use the standard Win Choke thread pattern. Keep in mind the Winchester SX-2 and SX-3 use Browning Invector Plus tubes and won't accept this one. If you're unsure, match it against your barrel markings or owner's manual before ordering.

Can I shoot steel shot through this Full choke tube?

Yes, steel is approved, but with limits. Don't run steel shot larger than BB through a Full constriction, and Carlson's recommends keeping steel velocity under 1550 fps through the Full or Extra Full tubes. Lead, copper plated, nickel, Hevi-Shot, bismuth, and tungsten all run through it as well.

What makes the Sporting Clays version different from a standard choke?

The Sporting Clays tubes have a parallel section roughly 25% longer than many standard chokes. That extra length helps settle the shot column into a tighter, more even pattern than a typical flush-mount tube. That's why it's a popular pick for both clay targets and longer shots in the field.

Do I still need to pattern my shotgun with this choke?

It's worth doing. Every load patterns a little differently through the same tube, so the choke marking on the box is just a starting point. Spend a few minutes at the pattern board with the exact shells you plan to shoot and you'll know precisely how it performs.
