The DeadShot name has been a staple on shooting benches for years, and this Air Combo is the molded update to that classic setup. Instead of the traditional stitched nylon bags packed with corn cob media, Caldwell went with their Air Rest Technology, which uses a molded, all-weather body that holds its shape and takes muzzle blast in stride. You get both a front and rear rest in the Ghost Gray finish, ready to go straight out of the box with no filling required.
The big draw here is the molded construction. Old-school bags tend to wear, tear, and soak up moisture over time, especially if you leave them sitting on a wet bench or in the back of a truck. This molded design resists all of that, standing up to the elements and the concussion from bigger calibers without breaking down. It is also lightweight, so it will not weigh down your range bag or hunting pack.
Both the front and rear rests offer multiple height settings, and when you mix and match them you end up with more than 50 different configurations. That range covers a lot of ground. Traditional bolt-action rifles and shotguns settle right in at the lower heights, while the taller setups handle lever guns, AR-15 style rifles, and even handguns. It is a versatile platform that adapts to whatever you bring to the bench.
One of the smarter touches is storage. The front rest has a hollow cavity, and the rear rest nests right inside it. That turns two pieces into one compact bundle you can toss in a range bag or hunting pack without them rattling around loose. For anyone who hauls gear to the range or out to a hunting spot regularly, that little detail saves a real headache.
It does not use loose fill like the older corn cob bags. The Air Rest design is a molded body that holds its shape on its own, so there is nothing to fill. You just pull it out of the box and set your rifle in it.
With over 50 height combinations across the front and rear rests, it covers a wide spread of guns. Lower settings suit traditional bolt-action rifles and shotguns, while the taller configurations handle lever guns, AR-15 style rifles, and handguns. It is built to be a universal fit rather than a one-gun rest.
The molded material resists the tearing and ripping that eventually shows up on stitched nylon bags. It also handles muzzle blast without damage and shrugs off wet weather, so it holds up better if you leave it on a damp bench or haul it in and out of a truck. Overall it is a more durable option for regular use.
Yes. The front rest has a hollow cavity that the rear rest nests inside, so the two pieces pack down into one compact bundle. That makes it simple to drop into a range bag or hunting pack, and the whole setup stays lightweight.
