Bulldog Rapid Release Paddle Holster – 1911 5″ Barrel, Right Hand

Description

The Bulldog Rapid Release Holster is an outside-the-waistband paddle rig shaped specifically for standard 1911-style autos running barrels up to 5 inches. It carries on the strong side for right-hand shooters and rides on a paddle back, so you can put it on or pull it off without having to open your belt first. That paddle also has a silicone lining Bulldog calls Comfort Wear, which cuts down on the hard plastic bite you sometimes get against your hip during a long day.

The whole thing is molded from high-tech polymer that shrugs off the solvents and lubricants that hang around firearms, so it wipes clean and holds its shape. The gun-specific molding fully covers a 5-inch slide and trigger guard, and the draw angle is adjustable across multiple positions using the included tool, letting you dial in the cant that suits your carry style.

What Makes the Rapid Release Lock Tick

The headline feature is the quick-draw locking mechanism. Drop the pistol in and it locks the gun in place the instant it seats, giving you Level II retention that holds the firearm secure through movement. When it's time to draw, a single swipe of your index finger releases the lock for a smooth, one-motion pull. It's an intuitive system that doesn't require thumb breaks or extra straps to fumble with under pressure.

Getting the Best Fit With the RR1911

Because it's molded for the full 5-inch platform, a true government-size 1911 is where this holster feels most at home. Owners running slightly shorter Commander-length guns have noted the fit can be a touch looser, though the retention lock still catches and holds as designed. If yours sits a hair loose, a small strip of adhesive felt inside the mouth is a common trick to snug it up and add scratch protection. For a standard full-size 1911, it drops in and locks up like it should right out of the package.
