Loading a stiff single stack magazine by hand gets old fast, especially once you're a few rounds deep and the spring starts fighting back. The Butler Creek ASAP Universal Single Stack Magazine Loader is built to fix that. It works with the large majority of single stack magazines chambered from 9mm through .45 ACP, so one tool covers a whole safe full of pistols instead of just one gun.
The motion is about as simple as it gets. Push the loader down over the top of the magazine, drop a round in below the feed lips, then raise the loader up to seat the cartridge. Bullet seated, mag loaded, on to the next one. What makes it worth having is the leverage. The design lets you compress those tough magazine springs with far less effort than pinching rounds in with your thumb, which means your hands hold up a lot longer during a full range session.
It's molded from durable polymer, so it's light enough to toss in a range bag and shrug off getting knocked around. At around 3.6 inches long it doesn't take up any real space, and there's nothing to adjust or set up. It's proudly made in the USA, which is always nice to see on a piece of gear you'll reach for every trip.
Because it's a universal design, fit can vary slightly from one magazine brand to the next, but it covers a huge range of common single stack mags. If you shoot 1911s, single stack 9mm carry guns, or anything in between, this is the kind of small tool that quietly saves your thumbs and speeds up your reloads. Anybody who runs a lot of rounds, or just has cranky hands, will get their use out of it.
It's designed to fit the large majority of single stack pistol magazines chambered from 9mm through .45 ACP. That covers a lot of common guns, from 1911s to slim single stack carry pistols. Since it's a universal design, fit can vary a little between magazine brands, but it handles a wide range of the popular ones.
It uses a simple one-action motion. You push the loader down over the top of the magazine, set a round in below the feed lips, then raise the loader up to seat the cartridge. Then you just repeat until the mag is full.
Yes, that's the whole point of it. The design gives you extra leverage to compress stiff magazine springs, so you're not straining your thumb to push rounds down. It makes a real difference over a long range session or if your hands aren't what they used to be.
It's molded from durable polymer, which keeps it lightweight and easy to stash in a range bag. The material holds up to repeated use and won't rust or corrode. It's also made in the USA.
