Black Rain Ordnance built their name on ARs, so when they stepped into the handgun world, people paid attention. The FRONTLINE+ is their feature-packed compact 9mm, and it delivers a lot of gun for the category. It runs on a Glock Gen 3 compatible platform, which means familiar ergonomics, a massive aftermarket, and a reliability track record that goes back decades. But BRO didn't just repackage a Glock. They came out of the gate with real upgrades baked in at the factory.
The headline feature on the FRONTLINE+ is the ported barrel and slide combo. Those ports actively work to reduce muzzle rise during rapid fire, which keeps your sights on target and makes follow-up shots noticeably quicker. The slide itself is stainless steel with front and rear serrations, forward slide cutouts for weight reduction and balance, and an RMR-cut optic plate for mounting your preferred micro red dot. AmeriGlo sights are installed from the factory, giving you a tritium front sight and a blacked-out rear that works well as a standalone iron setup or as a co-witness backup under a red dot.
The frame is where the ergonomics really shine. The deep trigger guard undercut lets your hand ride higher on the grip, improving control and reducing felt recoil. Upgraded stippling across the grip panels gives you a confident hold even with wet or gloved hands, and the optimized beavertail protects your hand during hard use. A MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail sits under the dust cover, ready for a weapon light or laser. This Gun Metal Grey Battleworn Cerakote version pairs a black polymer frame with a grey-toned slide that looks purpose-built without being flashy.

For anyone who's been thinking about buying a Glock and adding a bunch of aftermarket parts to it, this pistol makes a strong case for getting it all done from the factory and keeping the warranty intact.
It's built on the same Gen 3 Glock-compatible platform, so it shares the same basic footprint, controls, and compatibility with a huge range of Gen 3 aftermarket parts. That said, the FRONTLINE+ is a distinct firearm, not a Glock. BRO ships it with factory upgrades like the ported barrel and slide, optic cut, AmeriGlo sights, and enhanced stippling that you'd normally have to add yourself. Think of it as a Gen 3-based platform taken further from the factory.
The ports in both the barrel and slide vent propellant gases upward as the bullet exits, which pushes the muzzle down and reduces flip during shooting. It's a real, practical benefit during any situation where you're firing more than one round, and it's one of the bigger functional differences between the FRONTLINE+ and the base FRONTLINE model.
The slide is cut for RMR-type optics, which is one of the most common footprints in the compact red dot market. This covers popular options like the Trijicon RMR, Holosun 507C, and a wide variety of similarly footprinted micro red dots. The AmeriGlo iron sights installed from the factory can serve as a backup sighting system when running an optic.
The FRONTLINE+ uses GL9-pattern magazines, which are Glock 9mm Gen 3 compatible. It ships with a Magpul PMAG 15 GL9 magazine, and standard Glock 9mm magazines also work. That includes Glock OEM mags and a very large number of aftermarket options, so finding spares or extending capacity is straightforward.
It fits squarely in the compact carry category with its 4-inch barrel, 5.125-inch height, and roughly 22-ounce loaded weight. The deep undercut grip, beavertail, and aggressive stippling all contribute to solid control in a real-carry-sized package. The optic-ready slide means you can run it with or without a red dot depending on your setup, and it comes backed by BRO's lifetime customer warranty.
The finish is Cerakote, which is one of the most durable firearm coatings available and is highly resistant to corrosion, moisture, and general wear. The Battleworn aesthetic is applied intentionally, so the finish looks purposeful and rugged from the start.
