There are relief cuts machined into the top and bottom of the stem that steer extra gas out the sides instead of straight back at your face. It does. The Mod2 stem has relief cuts on the top and bottom that redirect gas out the sides and away from your face, plus a raised shelf that covers the rear of the upper.
