Description

Anyone who runs a Thunder Chicken hard knows how fast that can turns into a branding iron. A couple magazines of 7.62 and you're not touching it, your sling is melting against it, and your sight picture is swimming in mirage. This Heavy cover from Burn Proof Gear is the fix, cut specifically at 8 inches by 1.75 inches to wrap the Q Thunder Chicken like it was born on it.

What Makes the Thunder Chicken Heavy Cover Different

This is a two-part system, and that matters. The inner layer is a fiberglass mesh sleeving rated to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit that slips directly over the suppressor body. Over that goes the outer cover, built from DuPont Kevlar fabric with more high-temp fiberglass sandwiched inside, rated to 1000 degrees. Burn Proof Gear deliberately underrates their covers to where the Kevlar starts to degrade rather than quoting inflated numbers, which tells you something about how they do business. Because the sleeving is replaceable, you can swap the inner layer after heavy abuse and keep running the same outer cover for years.

Locked Down with a No-Slip Fit

BPG covers are cut about a half inch longer than the can itself, so the Kevlar rope laced through sewn channels cinches down around the front and rear of the suppressor. Once it's snugged up, it stays put through rapid strings and full auto fire without walking forward or spinning. Beyond saving your fingers, the cover knocks down heat mirage on precision work and cuts IR signature for anyone running night vision.

Range-Proven Burn Proof Gear Construction

Everything here is aerospace and military grade fire retardant material, sewn in the USA. It's the cover you'll find on hard-use guns for a reason: it takes sustained fire that melts cheaper wraps and keeps doing its job. If your can is too hot to touch, give it a few minutes to cool before the next string and this cover will outlast just about everything else on your rifle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this Burn Proof Gear cover fit my Q Thunder Chicken?

Yes, this exact cover is sized at 8 inches long by 1.75 inches in diameter to match the Q Thunder Chicken. BPG covers run about a half inch longer than the can so the cinch cord can lock down around the front and rear for a no-slip fit. If you're covering a different suppressor, double check its length and diameter against BPG's size chart first.

How much heat can the Thunder Chicken Heavy suppressor cover handle?

The outer Kevlar cover is rated to 1000 degrees Fahrenheit, and the fiberglass inner sleeving underneath is good to around 2000 degrees. Burn Proof Gear intentionally rates conservatively based on where Kevlar starts degrading, not marketing numbers. It's full auto capable, though the smart move is letting the setup cool once it's too hot to touch.

Can I replace the inner sleeving instead of buying a whole new cover?

Yes, and that's one of the best parts of the design. The two-part system means the fiberglass FR sleeving takes the direct heat abuse and can be swapped out when it wears, while the Kevlar outer cover keeps going. That stretches the working life of the cover well past single-piece wraps.

Does a suppressor cover really reduce heat mirage?

Noticeably, yes. A bare hot can throws shimmering mirage right through your optic's sight picture, and this cover insulates the surface enough to knock that down significantly during longer strings. It also cuts IR signature under night vision and keeps a hot suppressor from scorching slings, packs, and legs during transitions.
