Anyone who has run a suppressed SBR or dumped a few mags through a short barrel knows how fast a handguard turns into a stovetop. The Rail-Rap Heavy from Burn Proof Gear is built to solve exactly that problem. This is the larger of the two Rail-Rap sizes, sized for quad rails and bigger diameter handguards like the Daniel Defense MK18 Omega or Sig Spear LT, and this version comes in MultiCam Black to match your darker builds.
The construction is where this thing earns its keep. Burn Proof Gear builds it in the USA from Berry compliant fabrics, stitches it with DuPont Kevlar TEX-80 thread, and secures it with their proprietary Kevlar bungee cord rated to 800 degrees Fahrenheit. That bungee lacing is what keeps the wrap locked down during rapid fire instead of sliding around, and it lets you route the cord around lights, switches, and other accessories on your rail. Beyond saving your palm, the wrap knocks down heat mirage coming off the barrel and handguard, so your optic picture stays crisp during long strings instead of shimmering like a desert highway.
The Heavy covers rail diameters from 1.75 to 2.25 inches depending on shape, with panels measuring 6 inches long by 3 inches wide. On a quad rail it covers 6 inches of circumference while leaving the top Picatinny section open for your optic and accessories. Put it on a slimmer M-LOK or KeyMod handguard and it will wrap the whole thing, top rail included, which some folks prefer for a fully padded grip surface. Install is quick: loosen the cord, slip the wrap over the handguard, snug it back down.
As a bonus, the wrap doubles as cable management for pressure switches, gives you a consistent hand positioning reference, and adds a soft contact point when you rest the rifle on a barricade or truck hood. One simple piece of gear that fixes several small annoyances at once.
It works on both. The Heavy is sized for quad rails and larger handguards in the 1.75 to 2.25 inch diameter range, where it leaves the top Picatinny rail exposed. On a slimmer M-LOK or KeyMod rail it wraps the entire handguard, top rail included. If you want a slim rail covered but with the top rail left open, the standard Rail-Rap is the better pick.

Not at all. Loosen the bungee cord, slide the wrap over your handguard, position it where your support hand rides, and cinch the cord back down. The fit is intentionally snug so it stays planted during rapid fire, and no tools are needed.
