The panels measure 6 inches long by 3 inches wide, and an adjustable bungee cord cinches everything down tight so it stays put through rapid fire strings instead of walking around on the rail.
Burn Proof Gear makes the Rail-Rap Heavy in the USA from Berry compliant fabrics, sewn with DuPont Kevlar TEX-80 thread and secured with their proprietary Kevlar bungee cord rated to 800 degrees Fahrenheit. That matters when your rail is soaking up barrel heat during long training days. Beyond hand protection, the wrap does double duty by knocking down heat mirage rising off the handguard, so your sight picture stays clean instead of shimmering. It also gives you a soft, consistent index point for your support hand and a handy spot to route light or switch cables.
The Heavy is sized for rail diameters roughly 1.75 to 2.25 inches depending on shape, which is why it handles quad rails so well. That said, it is not limited to big handguards. Run it on a slim M-LOK or KeyMod rail and it will wrap the whole thing, top Picatinny included, for full coverage on lightweight builds where thin aluminum heats up quick.
Installation takes a minute or two. Loosen the cord, slide it over the handguard, snug it back down, and you are set. It comes off just as fast for cleaning or swapping between rifles. Yes. On slimmer M-LOK or KeyMod rails the Heavy has enough material to wrap the entire handguard, including the top Picatinny section. If you would rather keep the top rail open on a slim handguard, Burn Proof Gear makes a standard Rail-Rap sized for that.
It is built with Berry compliant fabrics, DuPont Kevlar TEX-80 thread, and a proprietary Kevlar bungee cord rated to 800 degrees Fahrenheit. That construction holds up to sustained fire and suppressed shooting without melting or fraying. It also reduces heat mirage coming off the rail, which keeps your sight picture cleaner during long strings.
