The Gordon Case Design
At the heart of the Mach's performance is the Gordon Case system, a specially engineered wad that does more than just hold your shot. The conical base wad optimizes powder combustion, while its design reduces felt recoil significantly compared to conventional shotshells. This means less pounding on your shoulder during a long day at the range or during competition rounds, allowing you to maintain focus and consistency through multiple boxes of shells.
Performance Built for Competition
With 1-1/8 oz of #8 shot and 1300 fps velocity, this load strikes an excellent balance for handicap trap shooting and skeet. The #8 shot size delivers the right pellet count for clean breaks without excessive pattern spread. These shells are loaded with B&P's proprietary F2 powder and white lead shot, which is slightly harder than standard lead due to its antimony content. The result is a shell that patterns tightly and consistently, shot after shot.
Fiocchi Heritage
B&P (Baschieri & Pellagri), founded in Bologna, Italy in 1885, is now part of the Fiocchi family. The Mach line carries over 140 years of manufacturing excellence and has contributed to winning 5 Olympic Gold Medals along with numerous world championships. When you shoot these shells, you're using ammunition with a proven track record in the highest levels of competitive shooting.
The Gordon Case features a uniquely designed wad with a conical base that optimizes powder combustion and reduces felt recoil by approximately 30 percent compared to conventional shells. This design maintains the hardness and spherical shape of the shot pellets, resulting in tighter, more consistent patterns at competition distances.
The Mach Professional Handicap is designed for both trap and skeet, though the 1-1/8 oz load with #8 shot is particularly well-suited for trap shooting at all distances, including handicap trap. The 1300 fps velocity and shot size combination provide the balance competitive shooters need for breaking targets reliably.
While the plastic hulls are technically reloadable, they require special Euro-style primers and knowledge of the Mach hull specifications. Many reloaders find them worth processing for reuse, though the Gordon Case design means they perform best with the original B&P components and loading data.
B&P's white lead shot contains approximately 5 percent antimony, making it slightly harder than standard lead. This hardness helps the pellets maintain their shape throughout the flight, which contributes to the tight, uniform patterns these shells are known for in competition.
