Bond Arms took the guts of their Stinger Rough Series and matched it with the extended B6 resin grips folks kept asking for, and the result is the Honey-B. The big deal here is fit. Most derringers leave your pinky dangling with nowhere to go, but the Honey-B's grips extend below the frame with a built-in pinky notch so you get a full, secure hold. That matters more than you'd think when you're touching off .380 ACP from a gun that measures just 5.5 inches end to end and weighs 17.5 ounces.
This is a stainless steel gun through and through, with the matte bead-blasted Rough Series finish that shrugs off daily carry wear without demanding babying. The single-action trigger breaks right around 7 pounds with a clean, crisp feel, and the ramped front blade sight is wide enough to pick up quickly without snagging on the draw. Bond Arms also builds in safety features the old-school derringers never had, including a crossbolt safety, a rebounding hammer, and retracting firing pins. The break action pivots open with a frame-mounted release lever on the left side, giving you easy access to both chambers for loading and unloading.
At just over a half inch wide at the barrels, this thing rides flat and forgettable in a pocket holster, and it stacks up smaller than most J-frame revolvers and many micro autos. The .380 ACP chambering keeps recoil manageable in a gun this size, and ammo is easy to find just about anywhere. Since the Honey-B is part of the Stinger RS family, the 3 inch barrel is swappable with other Honey-B and Stinger RS barrels, so you can change calibers down the road with a simple hex wrench. Yes, the Honey-B accepts other Honey-B and Stinger RS series barrels, so you can move between calibers like 9mm, .38 Special, and .22 LR with a simple hex wrench. Just note it is not compatible with barrels from the original Stinger or the larger Bond Arms frames like the Hand Cannon series. Stick with Stinger RS pattern barrels and swaps take only a minute.
Better than you would expect from a pocket derringer. The 17.5 ounce stainless frame soaks up a good chunk of the recoil, and the extended B6 resin grips give your pinky a place to land so the gun stays planted. The .380 chambering is one of the softer-shooting centerfire options in this platform.
It is one of the more pocket-friendly options out there. At 5.5 inches long, just over a half inch wide at the barrels, and 17.5 ounces, it rides flatter than a J-frame revolver and slips into a standard pocket holster easily. The Honey-B is a break action. Push down the release lever on the left side of the frame and the barrels pivot up, exposing both chambers. Drop in two rounds of .380 ACP, snap it shut, and you are ready. A barrel-mounted ejector button helps push spent cases out for reloading.
