This is a single action pistol, so you cock the hammer for each shot, and the break open action makes loading and extraction simple. The trigger breaks at around 7 pounds, sights are fixed to the frame and barrel, and a trigger guard comes standard. It gets your attention, no way around it. That said, the 28 ounce weight, heavy big bore barrel, and extended B6 resin grip do a solid job of managing it, and .44 Special loads make for a much milder range session in the same gun. Full-power magnum loads are best suited for experienced hands.
