This one is chambered in 300 AAC Blackout, a cartridge that has become a favorite for suppressor owners, hog hunters, and anyone who wants serious thump out of a compact carbine. The 16 inch SOCOM profile barrel is machined from 4150 chromoly steel, treated with black nitride for wear and corrosion resistance, and threaded 5/8×24 at the muzzle with an A2 flash hider installed. Swapping to a suppressor or a different muzzle device takes minutes.
Plenty of ARs in this range ship with a gritty GI trigger. Not here. Black Rain drops in its own 3.5 lb single stage trigger, which breaks clean and makes a real difference when you are trying to shrink groups. The bolt carrier group is nickel boron coated, so it runs slick, cleans up fast, and holds up to high round counts. Up top you get a Spec15 forged charging handle with an oversized tac latch, an easy thing to appreciate when you are working around an optic.
The forged aluminum receiver set wears a Smoke Cerakote finish, a gray tone that sets this rifle apart from the sea of plain black carbines without shouting for attention. Furniture is all Magpul, with an MOE SL adjustable stock and MOE grip in black, and the slim 15 inch M-LOK handguard free floats the barrel while leaving plenty of room for lights, slings, and hand stops. The SSP ships with Black Rain Ordnance's own 3.5 lb single stage drop-in trigger instead of a mil-spec GI unit. It breaks noticeably cleaner and lighter than the 5.5 to 8 lb pull you get on most entry-level ARs. For most buyers it removes the need for an aftermarket trigger upgrade right out of the gate.
That is one of the big draws of the 300 Blackout cartridge. Supersonic loads cycle reliably for hunting and general range use, and heavy subsonic loads shine when paired with a suppressor. As with most 300 Blackout carbines, some unsuppressed subsonic loads may need a bit of testing to find what your rifle cycles best.
