Description

Blue Force Gear built the GMT Sling for folks who came up on a tailed sling and never wanted to give it up. Standing for "Give Me Tail," this 2-point runs a free, non-captured tail that cinches down as small as you need by pulling it through the lock, then loosens fast with a pull tab on the same buckle. It gives you a longer adjustment range than the flagship Vickers, which is the whole point for anyone whose kit and layers change throughout the day.

What Sets the GMT Sling Apart

The heart of this thing is a custom double-locking buckle interface machined from glass-reinforced DuPont Zytel nylon. It took BFG over two years of development, and it shows. The adjuster gives you consistent tension whether you're tightening or loosening, and once it's set it stays put until you decide to move it. There are no springs, no metal teeth, and nothing that rusts or wears the webbing down over time. You pull the tail to shorten it and grab the spherical release knob to let it out. A sewn-in stop at the end of the tail keeps everything captured so your rifle never drops.

Webbing That Earns Its Keep

Instead of the thin, flat nylon you'll find on old ALICE-strap tail slings, the GMT uses BFG's proprietary solution-dyed INVISTA CORDURA webbing. It's got more loft, meaning it's thicker and softer against your neck and shoulder, and that same body makes it far less likely to snag its way into your magwell, trigger guard, or in front of your optic. The tail end is reinforced and stiffened so it's easy to find and control. It's also water resistant, lightweight at around 99 grams, and made in the USA.

Setup and Fit

This 1.25" version fits standard sling hardware and works great on AR-15s, carbines, shotguns, and other long guns. It comes with molded triglides that attach directly to standard sling swivels, and you can add push-button swivels, ULoops, or other BFG hardware if your setup needs it. The adjustable length runs roughly 54 to 64 inches, giving you plenty of room to dial it in.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the GMT Sling different from the Vickers Sling?

The big difference is adjustment range. The Vickers uses a captured, tailless design, while the GMT runs a free, non-captured tail that gives you a longer range of length adjustment. BFG built the GMT for experienced users who prefer the flexibility of a running tail and want to loosen or cinch down quickly as their gear and layers change.

Does the GMT Sling come with mounting hardware for my rifle?

It ships with molded triglides that attach directly to standard sling swivels, so it's ready to run on most setups with swivels or loops. If your firearm lacks suitable attachment points, you can add push-button swivels, ULoops, or other BFG hardware separately. Just make sure the mounting hardware matches your rifle's attachment points.

Will the tail snag on my gear or wander into the trigger guard?

BFG specifically chose thicker, lofty CORDURA webbing and a reinforced, stiffened tail end to cut down on snag hazards that plague thin legacy tail slings. It reduces the chance of the tail finding its way into your magwell, in front of your optic, or near the trigger, though no free-tail sling eliminates it entirely. If a wandering tail is a dealbreaker for you, a captured-tail design like the Vickers is worth a look.

Does the buckle hold tension or does it slip during use?

The custom double-locking buckle provides consistent tension when both tightening and loosening, and once it's set it stays put until you intentionally move it. There are no springs or metal teeth that fail or wear the webbing over time. You pull the tail to tighten and grab the spherical release knob to loosen.
