Description

Some people just prefer a tailed sling, and Blue Force Gear finally built one worth using. The GMT, short for "Give Me Tail," takes the loose-tail adjustment concept that special operations users have leaned on for years and cleans up every weak spot that made legacy tail slings a headache. You get a wider range of length adjustment than a Vickers, so moving between a bare rifle, plate carrier, a pack, or bulky cold-weather layers is a quick pull away rather than a fight.

What Makes the GMT Sling Adjust the Way It Does

The heart of this sling is a custom double-locking buckle machined from glass-reinforced nylon. Pull the tail to tighten it down, then grab the spherical release knob and pull to loosen. Tension stays consistent both directions, and once you set it, it holds until you decide to move it. There's no 1960s-era ALICE spring adjuster to rust out, no metal buckle to chew up your other gear, and a sewn-in stop at the end of the tail keeps everything from pulling apart and dropping your rifle.

Webbing and Build on the 1.25-inch GMT

The 1.25-inch width is the standard size that plays nice with common sling hardware, and it's the one you want for AR-15s, carbines, shotguns, and most full-size long guns. Blue Force Gear went with their solution-dyed CORDURA webbing here, which carries more loft and softness than the thin flat nylon on older tailed slings. That means it sits easier on your neck and shoulder and is far less likely to snag on your kit or slip behind a trigger. It's lightweight, water resistant, stitched with bonded TEX 70 nylon thread, and made in the USA.

Mounting the Coyote Brown GMT Sling

This one ships in a subdued coyote brown that blends right in with field and duty gear. It attaches directly to standard sling swivels using the included triglides, and if you're running push-button swivels, ULoops, or other mounts, those pair up easily. Whether it's range days, training, or long hours in the field, the GMT gives you that dialed-in tail control without the usual downsides.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the GMT Sling different from the Vickers Sling?

The big difference is adjustment range. The GMT uses a free-running tail that lets you make bigger changes in length, which is handy when you're switching between no kit, body armor, a pack, or heavy layers. The Vickers is a captured-tail design with no loose webbing, so it stays more streamlined, while the GMT trades a bit of that for extra adjustability. Blue Force Gear built the GMT for folks who specifically want a tail rather than to replace the Vickers.

What weapons is the 1.25-inch GMT Sling best suited for?

The 1.25-inch width is the standard size and works well with AR-15s, carbines, shotguns, and most full-size rifles. It also fits common sling hardware options. If you're running an ultralight build, a submachine gun, or a pistol caliber carbine, Blue Force Gear offers a narrower 1-inch version of the GMT for that.

Does the GMT Sling come with mounting hardware?

It includes triglides that let it attach directly to standard sling swivels right out of the package. If you want to run push-button swivels, ULoops, UWLs, or other mounting options, those are sold separately and pair up easily. Contact details for specific mounting help are available through Blue Force Gear if you run into an unusual setup.

Will the tail on the GMT Sling snag or come loose?

Blue Force Gear addressed both concerns in the design. The thicker CORDURA webbing has more loft and is far less prone to snagging than the thin flat nylon on older tailed slings, and a folded double-stitched stop at the end of the tail keeps it from getting caught or pulling apart. The double-locking buckle also holds tension once set, so it won't drift on its own.
