The Birchwood Casey 48301 Shooting Mat gives you a stable, cushioned surface to stretch out on whether you're dialing in groups from the bench or working a long-range prone position out in the field. It measures a full 84 inches long by 27 inches wide with a half-inch synthetic pad underneath, so there's plenty of real estate for taller folks and enough loft to keep your elbows and chest off hard ground, gravel, or wet grass.
The outer shell is built from 600 denier polyester with a skid-resistant texture, which is the kind of fabric that shrugs off drag across rough dirt and takes a beating without falling apart. That non-skid surface does more than survive abuse though. It grips the ground under you so you're not sliding around mid-string, and that consistency in your position is what helps your shots stack tighter.
Comfort is the quiet part of accuracy. The segmented, textured elbow pad section takes the pressure off your points of contact so you can settle in and stay there through a long session without your arms going numb. Being able to hold a solid prone position without fidgeting pays off downrange, and this mat is set up to let you do exactly that.
When you're done, it rolls up quick and cinches down with the quick-release buckles and reinforced handle, so it travels flat in a truck or clips onto a pack for the walk in. The coyote brown color blends in nicely on most terrain, and the lightweight build means you're not adding a ton of weight to your kit. It's a straightforward, well-built piece of gear that works just as well at the local range as it does chasing a long shot in the backcountry.
It measures 84 inches long by 27 inches wide with a half-inch thick pad. That's enough length to fit most taller folks in a full prone stretch and enough width to keep your elbows and gear on the mat instead of in the dirt.
The shell is 600 denier polyester with a skid-resistant texture, backed by half an inch of synthetic padding. That fabric holds up well to being dragged across rough ground and stays put under you thanks to the non-skid surface.
Yes. It rolls into a compact bundle and cinches down with quick-release buckles, plus there's a reinforced handle and carry strap for hauling it around. It's light enough to clip onto a pack for the walk into the field.
That's exactly what it's built for. The segmented, textured elbow pad cushions your contact points during long strings, and the non-skid surface helps you hold a consistent position, which is what keeps your groups tight.
