Birchwood Casey Swauber Applicators – 20-Pack Wire-Handled Swabs

Description

Anyone who has tried bluing a gun barrel with cotton balls knows the frustration. Fibers stick to the metal, the ball falls apart halfway through, and you end up with chemical on your fingers instead of on the part. The Birchwood Casey Swauber Applicators solve that headache with a looped wire handle and a tightly woven, highly absorbent head that stays put and lays down chemical evenly.

Each swauber measures about 3/4 inch by 3-1/2 inches, giving you enough surface to cover flats and enough control to work into tight spots and hard corners. The heads hold a serious amount of liquid, which is exactly what you want when you're flooding on a cold blue or wiping down a slide with solvent. Users who blue their own parts consistently point out that these don't shrink up or shed fibers the way cheaper swabs do, and the wire keeps your skin clear of whatever you're applying.

What the Swauber Applicators Handle Best

These are the go-to tool for Birchwood Casey's own finishing line, including Plum Brown, Perma Blue, and Super Blue gun blues. They work just as well applying cleaners and protectants like Bore Scrubber, Barricade, and RIG rust preventative. Basically any job that calls for daubing or flooding a liquid onto metal is fair game, and plenty of folks reach for them beyond the gun bench for staining leather and other shop tasks.

Keeping a Stack of Swaubers on Hand

Twenty applicators per pack means you're not rationing them mid-project. The compact size also makes them easy to toss a few into a range bag or field kit. You can rinse and reuse them a time or two if you're careful, but at this quantity most people just grab a fresh one and keep moving. For anyone who refinishes, restores, or just likes doing cleaning right, a pack of these belongs in the toolbox.
