Description
The Berger 200.20X is one of the most respected .30 caliber match bullets out there, and for good reason. It came out of a direct partnership with the U.S. Rifle Team (F-TR) and was the official bullet for team use at the 2017 F-Class World Championships. This is a loading component, not finished ammo, so you're getting 500 precision projectiles ready to be seated into your own .308 Winchester or larger cartridges.
What Sets the 200.20X Apart
The heart of this bullet is Berger's hybrid ogive, which blends tangent and secant nose shapes into one profile. Near the bearing surface it behaves like a tangent ogive, which makes it forgiving and easy to tune, then it transitions into a secant shape for a flatter trajectory and less wind drift. The practical upside is a bullet that holds a high ballistic coefficient without being fussy about seating depth, so you can find a tune and stay there.
Compared to the older 200 grain Hybrid, the 200.20X was reworked with a longer nose and longer boat tail paired with a shorter bearing surface. That combination drops drag, bumps the G7 BC up to 0.328 from the previous 0.316, and means a little more velocity at the same pressure thanks to reduced bearing surface and barrel friction. Fewer points lost to the wind is the whole idea.
Build Quality and Twist Notes
Every 200.20X is formed with Berger's J4 Target Jacket and held to tight tolerances, which is why so many competitors run them straight out of the box without sorting by weight. The core manufacturing process is consistent enough to give you reliable drop and a steady BC across the box.
As for stabilizing them, Berger lists a minimum twist of 1:11 or faster, but Bryan Litz and the development team note that a 1:10 twist gets you full stability and full BC in most conditions. You can run them in a 1:11 with a minor dip in BC. If you're building or spec'ing a rifle around this bullet, a 1:10 is the safe call. These are purely a target projectile and are not intended for hunting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Berger 200.20X loaded ammunition or a reloading component?
These are bullets only, meaning projectiles for handloading. You supply your own brass, powder, and primers and seat these in your .308 Winchester or larger .30 caliber cartridges. They are not finished, ready-to-fire ammunition.
What twist rate do I need to stabilize the 200.20X Hybrid Target?
Berger lists a minimum twist of 1:11 or faster for this bullet. A 1:10 twist is recommended if you want full stability and full ballistic coefficient in most conditions, while a 1:11 will run them with a small decrease in BC. For a new build dedicated to this bullet, a 1:10 is the safe choice.
What makes the 200.20X different from Berger's standard 200 grain Hybrid Target?
The 200.20X was redesigned with a longer nose and boat tail and a shorter bearing surface. That raises the G7 BC to 0.328 versus 0.316 on the older bullet, which works out to roughly a 4 percent reduction in drag. The shorter bearing surface also means a touch more velocity at the same pressure.
Is the 200.20X suitable for hunting?
No. This is a dedicated target and competition projectile designed for F-TR, F-Class, and long-range precision shooting. Berger does not recommend the Hybrid Target line for hunting use.
