Berger 6mm (.243) 80 gr FB Match Varmint Bullets 100ct

Description

Berger built its reputation on flat base, tangent ogive bullets that win benchrest matches, and this 6mm 80 grain Match Varmint is cut from that same cloth. It takes the accuracy you expect from a competition projectile and pairs it with a large hollow point and a thin-nosed jacket, so it opens up fast and hits varmints hard. If you load .243 Winchester, 6mm Creedmoor, 6BR, or any other six millimeter chambering, these give you a component that punches above its weight for both pest control and target work.

What Sets the 6mm 80 gr Match Varmint Apart

Every one of these is built on a J4 Precision Jacket, the same concentric copper jacket Berger uses across its competition line and the reason so many custom bullet makers trust the brand. The jacket runs extremely tight concentricity tolerances, which is a big part of why these print the groups they do. The thin nose promotes rapid expansion on impact, so small game and varmints go down quick rather than running off wounded.

Loading and Tuning the Berger 80 gr Flat Base Varmint

These use a tangent ogive, which is about as forgiving as it gets when you are working up a load. Tangent designs are not picky about seating depth, so you can find an accurate node without chasing the lands or fussing over tiny jump adjustments. The flat base helps with short to mid range precision and gives you a clean, consistent release from the muzzle. Berger lists a minimum twist of 1:12 inches or faster, so most modern 6mm barrels will stabilize them without issue.

Specs Worth Knowing

The 80 grain bullet carries a .243 inch diameter, a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.300, a sectional density of 0.194, and an overall length of 0.913 inches. It is a light, fast, flat shooting projectile that shines on prairie dogs, ground squirrels, coyotes, and paper out to realistic varmint distances. For folks who want match consistency in a varmint bullet, this one has earned its spot in a lot of loading benches.
