Description

The .22-250 Remington has been flattening coyotes and prairie dogs for decades, but most factory rifles saddle it with a slow twist that locks you into lightweight bullets. Bergara went a different direction with the B-14 Sierra Wilderness, spinning a 1:9 twist into the 20 inch fluted barrel so you can stabilize heavier, wind-bucking bullets that stay honest at the ranges this cartridge was born for. The No. 5 taper 4140 CrMo steel barrel wears Sniper Grey Cerakote from muzzle to receiver, comes threaded 5/8×24, and ships with Bergara's Omni muzzle brake already installed. If you would rather run a suppressor, spin the brake off and you are ready to go.

A Stock That Fits You, Not the Other Way Around

The Sierra takes the classic sporter profile and adds the adjustability hunters keep asking for. The comb raises and lowers so your eye lines up behind the scope without craning your neck, and quarter inch spacers let you dial in length of pull for heavy winter layers or a t-shirt in July. The grip is slightly more vertical than a traditional sporter, which puts your trigger hand in a more natural position for deliberate shots.

The B-14 Action Earns Its Reputation

Underneath it all is Bergara's B-14 action, a two-lug design with a sliding plate extractor and coned bolt nose that feeds and extracts with the kind of smoothness that made this platform popular in the first place. It is Remington 700 footprint, so scope bases and aftermarket parts are everywhere. The stock is cut for M5 bottom metal, and while this rifle ships with a fixed 4+1 hinged floorplate, you can convert it to run detachable AICS pattern magazines down the road if that suits how you hunt.

Why the Sierra Wilderness Makes Sense in .22-250

At around 7.4 pounds and 40 inches overall, this rifle carries well for a full day of calling coyotes and settles down nicely over a bipod or pack. Bergara backs its B-14 rifles with a sub-MOA guarantee, and between the fluted barrel, crisp trigger, and adjustable fit, this one gives you every tool to make good on it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Bergara B-14 Sierra Wilderness come with a detachable magazine?

This model ships with a fixed 4+1 hinged floorplate. The stock has an M5 bottom metal cutout, though, so you can convert it to accept AICS pattern detachable magazines with an adapter purchased separately. That gives you the option of a clean floorplate for hunting season and higher-capacity mags for range days.

Can I run a suppressor on the B-14 Sierra Wilderness?

Yes. The barrel is threaded 5/8×24, which is the most common thread pitch for centerfire rifle suppressors and muzzle devices. Simply remove the included Omni muzzle brake and attach your can or thread protector.

What twist rate does this .22-250 have, and what bullets will it stabilize?

This rifle uses a 1:9 twist, noticeably faster than the 1:12 or 1:14 found on most factory .22-250 rifles. That means it will stabilize heavier bullets in the 60 to 75 grain range that traditional twist rates struggle with, making it more capable in wind and at longer distances. It still shoots lighter varmint bullets just fine.

Is the Bergara B-14 Sierra Wilderness accurate enough for predator hunting at distance?

Bergara backs its B-14 rifles with a sub-MOA guarantee using quality factory match-grade ammunition. Between the fluted No. 5 taper barrel, the smooth two-lug B-14 action, and a stock you can adjust for a proper cheek weld, it has the ingredients to make consistent hits on coyote-sized targets well past 300 yards with a good optic and load.
