Bergara took everything hunters liked about the B-14 Squared Crest and shaved even more weight off it. The Crest CF wraps the company's CURE carbon fiber barrel technology around a 20 inch tube, then drops the whole barreled action into a 100 percent carbon fiber stock with an internal carbon spine. The result is a rifle that rides easy in a pack on a steep climb but still carries Bergara's sub-MOA accuracy guarantee with factory match grade ammo. The 25 Creedmoor chambering is a smart pick here too. It pushes high-BC quarter-bore bullets fast and flat with mild recoil, which makes it a genuinely pleasant round for deer, antelope, and longer pokes across open country.
Most carbon wrapped barrels struggle with heat, and heat is what walks your groups. Bergara's CURE barrel uses a patent pending carbon weave with stainless steel strands built into it, so the barrel sheds heat faster than a traditional carbon wrap while staying stiff and consistent shot after shot. The muzzle comes threaded 5/8-24 with an Omni muzzle brake installed, so you can run the brake, spin on a suppressor, or cap it off. The fluted bolt runs smooth through Bergara's two-lug action, and the receiver is drilled and tapped on the familiar Remington 700 footprint, which opens up a huge world of rails, rings, and bases.
The stock is molded using CF-RTM technology, the same resin transfer process used in aerospace and automotive work, with dry carbon fiber laid by hand before the resin is injected. An internal carbon spine keeps it rigid, and the black and gray sponge accents give it a look you won't mistake for anything else on the rack. Length-of-pull spacers let you dial the fit, and the M5 cutout means you can run the included AICS-pattern detachable magazine or convert to a traditional floorplate down the road.
