Bergara made its name building barrels for some of the biggest rifle makers in Europe and the United States before ever putting its own name on a receiver, and the B-14 Ridge is where that barrel-first reputation really shows. This version wears a 24-inch #5 contour 4140 chrome moly barrel in 6.5 PRC, finished in Graphite Black Cerakote and cut with a 1:8 twist that keeps long, heavy match and hunting bullets stable way out past where most folks are comfortable shooting. The muzzle comes threaded 5/8×24 with a thread protector, so adding a brake or suppressor is a five-minute job instead of a gunsmith trip.
The heart of this rifle is Bergara's B-14 action, a two-lug design with a coned bolt nose and breech plus a sliding plate extractor that feeds and pulls cases with a smoothness you usually pay a lot more for. It runs on the Remington 700 footprint, meaning the receiver is drilled and tapped for standard 700-style rings and bases and you have an enormous aftermarket to pick from when it's time to mount glass. Bergara's curved trigger breaks clean at roughly three pounds from the factory, and a simple two-position safety keeps controls where your thumb expects them. Rounds ride in an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate, holding 2+1 in this magnum chambering.
The glass fiber reinforced polymer stock has epoxy pillars molded permanently in place, giving the barreled action a solid, repeatable bedding surface that pays off in consistent groups. The SoftTouch coating adds a slightly tacky grip that stays manageable with cold hands or wet gloves, and the American-style profile points naturally offhand or off a pack. For elk timber, open-country mule deer, or stretching steel on the weekend, the 6.5 PRC Ridge covers a whole lot of ground with one rifle.
Yes. The muzzle comes threaded in the standard 5/8×24 pattern, which covers the vast majority of 6.5mm and .30 caliber suppressors and brakes on the market. A thread protector is included from the factory for when you're running the bare muzzle.
The receiver is drilled and tapped for Remington 700 style rings and bases using 6-48 screws, so you have one of the largest mounting ecosystems out there. One-piece rails, two-piece bases, and just about every major mount maker will have options for the long action 700 pattern.
This Ridge uses an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate rather than a detachable mag. In 6.5 PRC it holds 2 rounds in the magazine plus 1 in the chamber, and the floorplate drops open for fast, easy unloading without cycling rounds through the action.
That's really the whole point of this rifle. Bergara builds its own barrels, and the 24-inch tube with a 1:8 twist gets the most out of the 6.5 PRC's high-BC bullets, while the pillar-bedded stock and roughly three-pound trigger help you shoot up to the barrel's potential. Owners regularly report tight sub-MOA groups with ammo the rifle likes.
