The .22-250 Remington has been flattening coyotes and punching tight groups for decades, and the Bergara B-14 Crest gives that classic speed demon a serious modern platform. At 6.3 pounds bare, this rifle was built with mountain hunters and walking varminters in mind, the kind of folks who count ounces because every one of them gets carried up a ridge and back down again. The 100% carbon fiber stock is the star here. Bergara builds it with CF-RTM technology borrowed from the aerospace world, molding in an internal carbon spine that keeps the stock rigid and tough without the weight penalty of a traditional composite.
The 20 inch barrel is 4140 chrome moly steel in a #5 contour, fluted to shave weight and finished in Sniper Gray Cerakote along with the receiver. A 1:9 twist stabilizes heavier .22 caliber bullets than the old standard 1:14 barrels ever could, which opens up your ammo options considerably. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 and wears Bergara's Omni muzzle brake, so the already mild .22-250 becomes downright pleasant and you can watch your own impacts through the scope. The B-14 action runs a two-lug bolt with a sliding extractor, tapered bolt body, and breech stop for smooth, reliable feeding, and the fluted bolt adds a nice touch of polish. Bergara barrels have earned their reputation, and this one carries a sub-MOA guarantee.
The Crest feeds from AICS pattern magazines through M5 bottom metal and ships with one 5-round mag, giving you 5+1 on tap. The receiver comes drilled and tapped, so mounting your optic is straightforward, and the Bergara Performance Trigger breaks clean out of the box. The Monte Carlo comb puts your eye right behind a scope naturally, which matters when a dog pops up at 300 yards and you have about four seconds to make it count. Whether you are calling coyotes in January or thinning prairie dog towns in June, this is a rifle that earns its spot in the truck.
Yes, Bergara backs its B-14 line with a sub-MOA guarantee using quality factory match-grade ammo. Their barrels are drilled, honed, and rifled in-house, and the accuracy reputation is a big reason the brand has grown so fast. Most owners find these rifles group well under an inch at 100 yards with ammo the barrel likes.
No, the rifle ships without an optic or iron sights. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope bases, so you just need to pick up mounts that fit the Bergara B-14 pattern (Remington 700 style bases generally work) and add your glass of choice.
It feeds from AICS pattern detachable magazines through M5 bottom metal, and one 5-round mag comes in the box. AICS is one of the most common magazine footprints out there, so finding spares or higher capacity options is easy.
The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard pitch for most .30 caliber and many .22 caliber rifle suppressors, so a can threads right on once you remove the Omni brake. The 20 inch barrel keeps overall length manageable with a suppressor attached, which makes this a popular setup for calling coyotes.
