Instead of just dropping a carbon barrel into a synthetic stock and calling it done, they built carbon into the whole rifle. The stock is autoclave-cured carbon fiber, a process that squeezes out excess resin for the best possible strength-to-weight ratio, and the 22 inch barrel is Bergara's CURE carbon design with stainless steel strands woven into the wrap to pull heat away from the bore. That heat management is the piece most carbon barrels miss, and it is why this rifle holds its zero as the barrel warms instead of walking shots across the target.
At the center of it all sits Bergara's Premier action, machined from 416 stainless steel with lightening cuts and a widened ejection port to shave weight while keeping the bolt throw smooth. It rides a Remington 700 footprint, so scope bases and aftermarket support are easy to come by. The TriggerTech trigger breaks clean with zero creep, the two-position safety is simple and positive, and the whole rifle wears a Sniper Gray Cerakote finish that shrugs off weather and pack straps alike. Rounds feed from a 3 round internal magazine with a hinged floor plate, which keeps the belly of the rifle slick for carrying.
This chambering is where the Cima Pro really makes sense. The 7mm Remington Magnum has been dropping elk, mule deer, and mountain game at distance for decades, and here it comes in a package light enough that you will not dread the climb. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 and ships with a brake installed, which takes real bite out of the magnum recoil in a rifle this light. Bergara lists the Cima Pro line starting around 5.7 pounds bare, which is remarkable for a magnum-length rifle. The autoclave-cured carbon stock and CURE carbon barrel do the heavy lifting on weight savings. Expect the finished setup with scope, rings, and sling to land in the 7 to 8 pound range depending on your glass.
That is the whole point of Bergara's CURE barrel design. Stainless steel strands are embedded in the carbon weave to move heat away from the bore, which limits the point-of-impact shift that plagues a lot of carbon barrels. Independent testing has shown zero holding steady after strings of fire and cool-down cycles.
