There's a reason the mountain hunting crowd took notice when Bergara rolled out the Cima CF. At roughly 5.8 pounds, it's the lightest rifle Bergara has ever put in the B-14 family, and this one comes chambered in .300 PRC, a cartridge that earns its keep when the shot stretches out and the animal is big. A 22 inch CURE carbon fiber barrel with a 1:9 twist stabilizes the long, heavy bullets the .300 PRC was designed around, and the muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 with an Omni brake installed to take the sting out of magnum recoil in such a light package.
Bergara built its name on barrels, and the CURE carbon barrel isn't just a steel tube with a cosmetic wrap. The carbon weave is aligned to the bore, and continuous stainless steel strands are woven into the fiber to pull heat away from the chamber evenly. The payoff is a barrel that stays stiff and consistent as it warms up, which matters when your first cold bore shot is the one that counts.
The stock is where the rest of the weight savings live. Bergara uses a resin transfer molding process to produce a 100% carbon fiber sporter stock that weighs about 18 ounces, with an SMC carbon mini chassis molded in to give the action a rigid, repeatable bedding platform. Length of pull adjusts from 13.5 to 14.25 inches using the three quarter inch spacers included in the box. Rounds feed from an internal magazine under an M5 hinged floorplate holding 3+1 in this chambering, and the bottom metal inlet converts to accept AICS pattern detachable magazines if you prefer to run one. A spiral fluted bolt keeps things smooth and trims a little more weight, and the Bergara Performance Trigger breaks clean and adjusts from about 2 to 4 pounds with an Allen key. The receiver ships without sights and is drilled and tapped for Remington 700 pattern bases, so mounting glass is simple. For a backcountry elk or long range mule deer rig, this one checks the right boxes without going to extremes.
Out of the box it feeds from an internal magazine with an M5 hinged floorplate, holding 3 rounds of .300 PRC plus one in the chamber. The bottom metal inlet is cut to the M5 pattern, so it converts to run AICS style detachable magazines with the right bottom metal if you want to swap later.
Yes. It comes with the Bergara Performance Trigger, a single stage design with a pull weight adjustment screw in the housing. You can set it anywhere from roughly 2 to 4 pounds with a simple Allen key, and it breaks clean at any setting.
The rifle ships without sights and the receiver is drilled and tapped for Remington 700 pattern bases, which is about the most common footprint out there. Any quality Rem 700 long action base or one piece rail will get you set up, and the straighter comb on the stock lines your eye up nicely behind the glass.
The 22 inch CURE carbon barrel is threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard thread pitch for most .30 caliber suppressors and muzzle devices. It ships with an Omni muzzle brake installed, so you can spin that off and thread on a can directly. Just keep in mind adding a suppressor changes the balance of a rifle this light.
