Rimfire competition has exploded over the last few years, and Bergara clearly built the BMR-X Steel with that crowd in mind. Take their proven Micro Rimfire action, hang a heavy No. 6 profile 4140 chrome moly barrel off the front, and drop it all into a stock borrowed from the BXR playbook, and you end up with a .22 LR that feels a whole lot like a full-size precision rig scaled down for cheap ammo and hundred yard steel.
The 18 inch barrel carries real weight up front, and that is by design. The extra mass settles the rifle on bags and barricades, smooths out your hold between shots, and keeps the muzzle planted through a full match stage. It features a match chamber for tighter tolerances with quality target ammo, a 1:16 twist that handles everything from bulk plinking loads to match-grade fodder, and 1/2×28 threading with a protector so a suppressor or muzzle device spins right on. A .22 LR with a can on it is about as much fun as you can have at the range, and this rifle is set up for it out of the box.
The synthetic stock comes in green with black webbing and pulls its ergonomics straight from Bergara's centerfire lineup. You get an adjustable length of pull, a vertical grip that cuts down on hand torque, and a flat forend that rides bags and props without wanting to cant. Up top, the included 30 MOA rail gives you plenty of elevation for stretching a .22 way past where most folks think it belongs. The Bergara Performance Trigger adjusts externally, so dialing in your preferred pull weight takes a screwdriver instead of a trip to the gunsmith.
Bergara includes both a 5-round and a 10-round magazine, which covers most match rules and general range days without buying extras. Whether you are getting into NRL22, training on the cheap, or just want a rimfire that shoots like it means it, the BMR-X Steel earns its spot in the safe.
The BMR-X uses the same Micro Rimfire action but upgrades the stock and features for competition use. You get a vertical grip, flat forend, adjustable length of pull, and a rubberized texture, plus a 30 MOA rail instead of a flat one. It is essentially the match-ready version of the BMR platform.

The heavy barrel adds stability on barricades, the flat forend rides bags well, and the 30 MOA rail gives you the elevation needed for longer rimfire targets.
