Building a precision rifle from scratch usually means waiting on a custom barrel job, and that wait can stretch for months. Bergara took the guesswork and the lead time out of the equation with the Premier Series barreled action. This one comes chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 24 inch, No. 5.5 contour barrel in 416 stainless steel, machined in the USA and finished in raw stainless. The 1:8 twist rate stabilizes the long, heavy match bullets that made the 6.5 Creedmoor a favorite for ringing steel way out past what most cartridges handle gracefully. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 and a thread protector is included, so you can spin on a brake or suppressor from day one.
The action itself is where Bergara put in the work. You get a spiral fluted bolt body, an enlarged bolt handle that is easy to run with gloves or from awkward positions, plus a dual ejector and sliding plate extractor for consistent, positive ejection. A floating style bolt head helps the lugs seat evenly for better lockup and accuracy potential. The receiver is drilled and tapped in the 8-40 screw pattern, so mounting a Rem 700 style rail or bases is straightforward.
Because it uses the Remington 700 short action footprint, this barreled action fits most 700 pattern stocks and chassis out there, which is a huge chunk of the aftermarket. Pick your stock, add a 700 compatible trigger of your choice (one is not included, and that is by design so you can run exactly what you like), and you have a rifle set up your way without paying a gunsmith for barrel work.
The No. 5.5 contour strikes a nice middle ground, stout enough for long strings at the range but not so heavy that it turns a hunting rig into a boat anchor. Whether you are piecing together a do-it-all crossover rifle or your first serious long range setup, this is a clean, proven foundation from a company that built its name on barrels.
No, it ships without a trigger. That is intentional, since most folks building on this platform already have a preferred aftermarket trigger in mind. It accepts Remington 700 compatible triggers, so options from Timney, TriggerTech, and similar makers will work.
It uses the Remington 700 short action footprint, so it fits most Rem 700 pattern stocks and chassis, which covers a massive share of the aftermarket. Keep the No. 5.5 barrel contour in mind when choosing, since your stock's barrel channel needs enough room for it to free float properly.
Yes. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard pitch for most 6.5mm and .30 caliber suppressors and muzzle brakes. A thread protector is included to keep the threads clean when you are shooting without a device attached.
The barrel has a 1:8 twist, which is the sweet spot for 6.5 Creedmoor. It stabilizes the heavy, high BC match bullets in the 140 to 147 grain range that this cartridge is known for, while still shooting lighter hunting loads well.
