Run the 20 with its 3" chambers when the birds are wild and the shots are long, then swap to the 28 gauge set when you want that sweet-swinging, light-recoiling feel that makes a day behind pointing dogs feel effortless. Same stock fit, same trigger, same point of impact habits, just two different personalities.
At the core is Beretta's low-profile 686 boxlock, which locks up on two conical lugs set at mid-action between the barrels. That design keeps the receiver shallow, puts your eye closer to your lead hand, and gives the gun that natural, almost instinctive pointability the 680 series is famous for. It also spreads recoil in a way that keeps muzzle rise tame, so second shots on a covey rise or a true pair come quick. The single selective trigger and tang safety keep everything simple in the field.
Both barrel sets are built from Beretta's cold hammer forged Steelium steel with vent ribs and interchangeable choke tubes, throwing dense, even patterns whether you're feeding it dove loads or clays ammo. The satin silver receiver wears traditional scroll engraving, the trigger is gold, and the oil-finished walnut stock is cut with crisp checkering and finished off with a classy Schnabel fore-end. At right around 6.4 pounds, it carries all day without complaint.

The 20 gauge barrels are chambered for 3" shells, which gives you room for heavier loads when longer shots are on the menu. The 28 gauge set runs standard 2.75" shells. Between the two, you can cover everything from late-season pheasants to skeet and preserve quail.
It genuinely does both well. The 28" barrels are a great middle ground, long enough to swing smoothly on clays but light enough to carry through upland cover all day. At roughly 6.4 pounds with the low-profile 686 action, it points naturally in the field and holds its own at the range.
