The A300 Ultima Patrol earned its reputation fast, and this version adds the upgrade a lot of folks were asking for right out of the box: the Chisel stock. Built around Beretta's gas-operated action with a self-cleaning piston and compensating exhaust valve, this is the same core system that has cycled countless rounds through duck blinds and dove fields, just dressed for defensive work. The 19.1 inch chrome-lined barrel keeps it maneuverable in tight spaces, and the 3 inch chamber handles everything from light target loads to full-power buckshot.
The fixed Chisel stock gives you a steeper, more hand-filling grip angle than the standard sporting-style stock, which makes a real difference when you are driving the gun with a push-pull technique or working around a light. Pair that with the aggressively textured forend and you get a shotgun that stays planted in your hands, gloves or no gloves. Controls are sized for speed too, with an enlarged loading port, extended bolt handle and bolt release, and an oversized reversible safety you can find without looking.
A ghost ring rear sight and interchangeable front post get you on target fast, and the installed 7-slot Picatinny rail is ready for a red dot when you are. Three M-Lok mounting points and QD sling sockets handle lights and slings, and the barrel clamp securing the 5+1 magazine tube has its own integrated M-Lok slots and QD socket. It even accepts aftermarket rail and optic mounts made for the 1301 Tactical, so the accessory well runs deep.
At 7.1 pounds with a 7075-T6 aluminum receiver, the Patrol soaks up recoil better than most defensive shotguns in its class while staying quick to shoulder. This is a semi-auto you can feed, run hard, and count on, which is exactly what you want from a gun in this role.
The Chisel stock is a fixed synthetic stock with a steeper, more vertical grip angle than the standard Patrol stock. It gives you better leverage and control when running the gun aggressively, especially with a push-pull recoil technique. It became a popular aftermarket upgrade for tactical Berettas, so getting it factory installed saves you the swap.
Yes, it ships with a 7-slot Picatinny rail already installed on the receiver, so most micro red dots mount right up. It is also compatible with aftermarket rail and optic mounts made for the Beretta 1301 Tactical, which opens up plenty of lower-profile mounting options.
The A300 uses Beretta's gas-operated system with a self-cleaning piston, while the 1301 runs the faster-cycling Blink system. In practical terms, the A300 gives you very similar handling, shared accessory compatibility, and proven reliability at a friendlier price point. For home defense and range work, most people will never notice the difference in cycle speed.
The gas system with its compensating exhaust valve is designed to run a wide range of ammo, and the 3 inch chamber handles everything up to magnum loads. Like most gas semi-autos, it is happiest with quality loads in the 1145 fps and up range. Very light promotional birdshot can be hit or miss in any semi-auto until the gun is broken in.
