The 3-inch chamber runs 2 3/4 and 3-inch shells interchangeably with no adjustments, and Beretta's Blink gas system cycles them fast and keeps itself clean along the way, which means less scrubbing between hunts.
Between the Kick-Off hydraulic recoil system in the stock, the soft comb, and the lengthened forcing cone in the Steelium Plus barrel, this gun takes the sting out of a full day of shooting. A 20 gauge is already pleasant, but this setup makes stout waterfowl loads feel downright polite, and your follow-up shots come back on target quicker because the muzzle stays put. Beretta's Blink gas system is known for running a wide range of shells, and this gun handles 2 3/4 and 3-inch loads interchangeably without any adjustment. Like most gas semi-autos, the very lightest budget target loads can occasionally be finicky in a brand new gun, but a short break-in period with standard field or target loads usually smooths everything out.
It ships with five extended Optima-Choke HP tubes: Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full. That range covers everything from close shots over decoys to longer passing shots, and it works for clays as well. The extended design also makes swapping tubes quick without a wrench for most changes.
Yes, the receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory, so you can add a Picatinny rail and mount an optic if you want one for turkey hunting or similar work. The rail itself is not included, so you'd pick that up separately. Out of the box, the fiber optic front bead and steel mid-bead give you an excellent sight picture for wingshooting.
It's one of the better options out there for that purpose. At around 6.6 pounds with Beretta's Kick-Off recoil system and a soft comb built into the stock, felt recoil is remarkably mild even with heavier hunting loads. The stock is also shim adjustable, so you can fine-tune the fit, and the crossbolt safety reverses for left-handed use.
