Bravo Company built the BCMGUNFIGHTER Mod 1 around a simple idea: the way people run carbines today is nothing like the bladed stance the old A2 grip was designed for. Modern shooting is squared off with a shorter length of pull, so the grip should sit more vertical. The Mod 1 reduces that grip angle, which lets your wrist and trigger finger fall into a more natural line with the rifle. Folks who swap over from a mil-spec A2 tend to notice right away that they stop rolling their palm off the back just to find a comfortable hold.
The Mod 1 shares the same modern angle as the slimmer Mod 0 but adds a high rise beavertail back strap that fills the web of your hand. That extra material gives you a fuller, more planted feel on the gun, especially if you have medium to larger hands. It runs a touch wider than a standard A2, and the surface texture strikes a nice balance: grippy enough to stay locked in, but not so aggressive that it chews up your hand during a long range session.
The base of the grip has a hinged trap door sealed with a water-resistant rubber gasket. It is a handy stash spot for a spare optic battery, a front sight adjustment tool, or other small odds and ends you want to keep with the rifle. It is not huge, but it is sealed up well and keeps things from rattling around.
The Mod 1 fits AR-15 and AR-308 style lowers, and it ships with two modular trigger guard inserts. The extended insert closes the gap between the grip and trigger guard for a smooth transition, while the smooth insert works better on lowers with a larger built-in trigger guard. You install whichever one fits your lower best. Molded from impact-resistant polymer and made in the USA, it holds up to the kind of use BCM gear is known for.
Both grips use the same reduced, more vertical angle, so the shooting feel is very similar. The main difference is the back strap. The Mod 1 adds a high rise beavertail that fills more of your palm, while the Mod 0 keeps a slimmer profile that some folks prefer for smaller hands or shooting with gloves.
It fits standard AR-15 and AR-308 style lower receivers. The two included modular inserts let you match the grip to your specific lower, whether you have a standard trigger guard or a larger built-in one. It is always smart to test fit before your first range trip.
