Bravo Company built the MK2 charging handle around one simple idea: the moment you reach up to run your rifle, everything should just work. This is the asymmetric version with a single medium latch, sized to give most hands a solid grip without the extra length of a big tactical latch getting in the way of your optic or reaching down the rail. It bolts straight into any Mil-Spec AR-15 direct impingement upper and runs exactly the way you already know how to run a charging handle, so there's no learning curve.
The MK2 platform came out of more than ten years of feedback from real-world use, and the refinements show. BCM redesigned the geometry to take load off the roll pin and keep the charging force closer to the centerline of the rifle. That means less flex and less of that binding feeling when you're yanking on it hard or clearing a stubborn round. The engagement surface is smooth and uninterrupted, so there are no pinch points to grab skin, gloves, or gear when things get fast.
One of the standout upgrades is the venting. The MK2 features upper, lower, and side exhaust channels that route gas away from your face during cycling. Those channels are tuned for BCM's own MK2 upper receiver, but they still cut down on gas blowback on any Mil-Spec upper, which is a real bonus if you shoot suppressed.
The medium latch extends roughly 0.92 inches past the main body, giving you a natural spot to hook a thumb or finger. Each handle is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum off Mil-Spec forgings and wears a hard coat anodized finish, so it holds up to abuse and keeps looking sharp. Made in the USA, it's a straightforward upgrade or replacement for anyone running a Mil-Spec AR-15 who wants a control that just performs. Worth noting: it is not compatible with adjustable gas keyed bolt carrier groups.
No, this model (GFHMK2MED) is the asymmetric version with a single medium latch on the standard side. If you want left-and-right operation, BCM makes an ambidextrous MK2 variant separately. Both share the same core geometry and gas venting features.
It drops into any Mil-Spec AR-15 direct impingement upper receiver and runs like a standard charging handle, so there's no change to how you operate your rifle. Just note that it is not compatible with adjustable gas keyed bolt carrier groups. If you're running a standard BCG, you're good to go.
