No, this cover is intended for bolt action rifles and limited semi-auto shooting. It is not rated for suppressor temperatures above 450 degrees, which you can hit with roughly 20 consecutive rounds of .308 from a bolt gun or 30 rounds of 5.56 semi-auto. Pace your strings and let things cool between cycles and it will hold up fine.
It does. A hot suppressor sits right in front of your objective lens, and the rising heat distorts your sight picture, especially at longer distances or higher magnification. The Devour's insulating carbon fiber felt slows that heat release, which noticeably cleans up the shimmer so you can spot your own impacts.
