The 6.5 Grendel has earned its reputation as one of the flattest-shooting, hardest-hitting cartridges you can run through a standard AR-15 magazine, and this Ballistic Advantage 18-inch SPR barrel is built to let it stretch its legs. Machined from 416R stainless steel with a clean bead-blasted finish, it pairs a 1:8 twist with a rifle-length gas system to deliver the kind of smooth, consistent cycling that keeps groups tight round after round. The 5/8×24 threaded muzzle takes just about any common brake, comp, or suppressor you'd want to hang on it.
The SPR contour is the sweet spot for a lot of builders. It carries more meat than a lightweight profile so it holds zero and resists heat during longer strings, but it doesn't turn your rifle into a boat anchor the way a bull barrel can. Ballistic Advantage also spec'd a slightly longer .750 gas block journal here, which leaves room for an OPS Inc 12th model collar and suppressor setup if that's the direction you're headed. One important note on the Grendel: this is a Type II chamber. Grendel comes in Type I and Type II bolt and barrel specs, and the two do not mix, so you'll want to pair this barrel with a Type II bolt to keep everything running the way it should.
This is a Type II chamber, which is by far the most common Grendel spec on the market today. Type I and Type II bolts and barrels are not interchangeable, so you'll need to run a Type II bolt with this barrel. Most factory ammo and current-production bolts are built around Type II, so you're in good company here.
