Built in Turkey and imported by EAA Corp, this break-action pairs 26 inch vent rib barrels with an aluminum receiver, keeping the whole gun light enough to carry through a long day of walking hedgerows. The 28 gauge itself is a favorite for a reason: soft on the shoulder, quick to the target, and surprisingly effective on quail, dove, and clays alike.
The receiver wears a flushing pheasant engraving that gives it the look of a much pricier field gun, and it's matched to checkered Turkish walnut on both the buttstock and forend. Up top, a fiber optic front bead sits at the end of the vent rib for fast, instinctive pointing when a bird breaks cover. A single mechanical trigger fires both barrels, the manual safety doubles as your barrel selector, and an extractor lifts spent hulls for easy removal. A rubber recoil pad caps things off, though with 28 gauge loads you'll barely need it.
EAA ships this one with a five-piece Mobil choke tube set covering Skeet, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full. That's the full spread from close-flushing woodcock cover to longer passing shots, and it means you're not hunting down extra tubes before your first outing.
The beauty of a break action is its simplicity. There's no gas system to clean, no magazine tube to fuss with, just two shells and a gun that swings like it should. This model uses an extractor rather than automatic ejectors. When you break the action open, the extractor lifts the spent shells partway out of the chambers so you can pull them by hand. Many upland hunters prefer this setup since it keeps empty hulls out of the field and simplifies the mechanism.
The Blue Label is manufactured in Turkey, a country with a long track record of quality shotgun production, and it's imported and backed by European American Armory (EAA Corp) here in the States. EAA handles warranty service through its facility in Cocoa, Florida.
It's one of the best options out there. The 28 gauge produces very mild recoil while still throwing an effective pattern on clays, dove, and quail, and the simple break-action design is easy to learn and easy to verify safe.
