It swaps in where your factory end plate already sits, so you keep your setup tidy and low profile.
The whole piece is machined from a single chunk of steel, which is what lets it take proper staking and hold up for the long haul. The QD socket is anti-rotational, meaning your swivel gets a limited range of movement instead of spinning freely. That keeps the sling from twisting up on you and helps the rifle sit consistently against your body whether you are shouldering it or letting it hang. The socket works the same for right or left handed shooters, so it fits however you run your gun.
B5 gave it a mil-spec manganese phosphate finish that shrugs off corrosion and wear, the same kind of coating you would expect on a hard-use duty part. It measures about 0.35 inches thick and weighs roughly half an ounce, so it adds a sling point without adding any real weight to the build. You will pull the buffer and spring, remove the stock and receiver extension, back off the castle nut, and swap the old plate for this one before torquing everything back down and staking the nut. No, the end plate provides the socket but the QD swivel is not included. You will need a standard push-button QD sling swivel to attach your sling. Most common swivels drop right into the socket.
Yes, it is designed to work with all mil-spec receiver extensions, so it fits both AR-15 and AR-10 lowers running a standard buffer tube. If your build uses a commercial-spec or otherwise non-standard tube, double check your setup before installing.
