Rust is the quiet enemy of any firearm, and it loves to show up right when you least expect it, on the tail end of a wet hunt or after a gun sits in storage too long. The Birchwood Casey Barricade Take-Along Wipes are built to shut that down. Each pack gives you 25 individual cloths, pre-treated with the same Barricade rust protection formula Birchwood Casey has trusted for years, sealed in their own foil packet so they stay fresh until you tear one open.
The way these work is simple and effective. The formula drives moisture out of the metal's pores and leaves behind a transparent film that seals the surface against corrosion. Barricade has held up to 500 hours in ASTM humidity testing and 96 hours of salt spray, so this is real protection and not just a quick oily wipe. Beyond rust prevention, the wipes double as a penetrant for loosening frozen or rusty parts, and folks who hunt in damp country swear by them.
At 5 x 8 inches, each cloth is sized just right to wipe down most rifles, handguns, and shotguns after a day out. There are no bottles to pack around, nothing to leak or spill, and when the cloth dries out you know the product is used up. A lot of users keep several stashed in a range bag or hunting pack, and one wipe can usually cover more than a single gun if you're careful.
Using them couldn't be easier. Tear open the packet, unfold the cloth, and wipe down all your metal surfaces. A popular trick is to cut a strip and run it down the bore before storage for short-term protection inside the barrel. When you're done, fold the spent cloth back into its foil pouch for clean disposal. Keep a box in your safe, toolbox, or truck and you'll always have rust protection on hand when it counts.

Yes. Many people cut a strip off the cloth and run it down the bore before storage for short-term protection inside the barrel. It's a handy way to guard the one spot that often gets overlooked after cleaning.
The Barricade formula has withstood 500 hours in ASTM humidity testing and 96 hours of salt spray testing, so it holds up well for storage and transport. For long-term safe storage, reapply as part of your regular maintenance routine and check your firearms periodically.
No, they work on firearms and just about any other metal equipment you want to keep rust-free. The transparent protective film is great for tools, knives, and other gear that sees moisture. They also help loosen rusty or frozen parts thanks to the penetrating formula.
