Two hundred fifty years of the Marine Corps deserves more than a plaque on the wall, and Auto-Ordnance delivered something a lot better. This special edition Thompson M1 carbine was customized by Altered Arsenal, and the result is a presentation-grade piece that still runs like a Thompson should. The receiver wears a two-tone Cerakote treatment, matte black up top over a Stormtrooper White lower, with MARINES laid across the left side in bold USMC Red. Flip it over and the right side carries a 250TH ANNIVERSARY engraving with a commemorative crest, while the top of the receiver gets a red and gold design inspired by the Marine Corps Dress Blues. It is a lot of detail packed into one carbine, and every bit of it is hand-created, so no two examples are exactly alike.
The American walnut furniture is where this Thompson really earns its keep as a tribute piece. Each section of wood is laser engraved with historic battle scenes, the foregrip carries a U.S. marking, and the buttstock reads 250 Years of Service. Between the wood and the metalwork, the whole carbine reads like a timeline of the Corps you can actually take to the range.
Underneath the commemorative treatment, this is the same semi-auto M1 Thompson that Auto-Ordnance has been building for years. It runs .45 ACP through a 16.5 inch barrel with a 1:16 twist, sights are a fixed blade front paired with a battle-style rear, and overall length comes in at 38 inches. At 11.5 pounds it has that classic Tommy Gun heft, which does a fine job soaking up recoil when you are feeding it 230 grain ball. Two stick magazines come in the box, one 30-rounder and one 20-rounder. Keep in mind this model runs stick mags only and will not accept drums.
Whether it ends up over the mantle, in the safe next to a matching 1911, or getting regular range time every November 10th, this is a fitting way to mark two and a half centuries of the Few and the Proud.

It's both. Under the commemorative finish work is the same semi-automatic M1 Thompson action Auto-Ordnance has built for years, chambered in .45 ACP with a 16.5 inch barrel. Plenty of buyers will keep one in the display case, but it's fully capable of regular range work.

Since the content is hand created, no two carbines come out exactly identical, and colors can vary slightly from piece to piece.
It weighs in at 11.5 pounds unloaded with a 38 inch overall length, so it carries the same solid feel as the original Tommy Guns.
