Description

Most night vision paints the world in that familiar green glow. The SIONYX Aurora Pro throws that script out and shows you the dark in real, usable color. It's the top of the Aurora line, running SIONYX's newest ultra-low-light CMOS sensor and sharper optics so you can pick up detail well past what your naked eye can manage. Rated for light levels under 1 millilux, it'll pull a full-color image out of moonless starlight and spot a man-sized target around 150 meters out.

What Sets the Aurora Pro Apart

The heart of this thing is a 16mm f/1.4 lens feeding a 1024×768 micro OLED viewfinder, with 1x to 3x digital zoom to reach out a bit farther. You get a wide 44-degree field of view that keeps you aware of what's happening in your peripheral vision, plus a diopter adjustment from -4 to +4 so folks with or without glasses can dial in a crisp picture. Beyond straight viewing it records 720p video and stills, and you can wirelessly stream the feed to your phone through the SIONYX app on iOS or Android.

Built for the Dark and the Weather

This is a tool meant for rough nights. The Aurora Pro carries an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, handles a 1-meter drop onto concrete, and operates in temperatures from -20C all the way up to 50C. It's compact and light at roughly 274 grams, so it rides easy in a pack or chest rig. Built-in GPS, a digital compass, and an accelerometer tag your footage with time and location, and the unit is weapons-rated for .223/5.56 with recoil-activated capture in Loop mode.

Where the Aurora Pro Earns Its Keep

Hunters chasing hogs and coyotes after dark, property owners running security, boaters, and anyone who wants to actually see and record what's moving at night tend to gravitate toward this one. Color detail makes it easier to identify what you're looking at than a green or grayscale image, and multiple night tone modes let you switch between color, green, and grayscale depending on conditions. In the blackest settings, grayscale often gives the cleanest picture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Aurora Pro actually show color at night?

Yes, that's the whole point of it. Unlike traditional green-tube night vision, the Aurora Pro uses a digital ultra-low-light sensor to render a full-color image in near darkness. Color detail makes it much easier to identify what you're looking at, and you can switch between color, green, and grayscale night tones depending on conditions.

Can I mount the Aurora Pro on a rifle?

It is weapons-rated for .223/5.56 and features recoil-activated capture in Loop mode, so it can be run on a rifle in that caliber range. It uses a standard 1/4-20 tripod thread for mounting. Testing has shown the image stays stable through .223 recoil, with only a brief washout after each shot that recovers quickly.

Do I need an external IR illuminator with the Aurora Pro?

The Aurora Pro is designed to work in moonless starlight without one, and it performs best in genuinely dark conditions. That said, if you're in a truly pitch-black environment with no ambient light at all, pairing it with an IR illuminator can noticeably sharpen the picture. For most outdoor nights under the stars, it pulls a usable image on its own.

How tough is the Aurora Pro for outdoor use?

It's built for rough conditions. The unit carries an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, survives a 1-meter drop onto concrete, and operates in temperatures from -20C to 50C. At around 274 grams it stays compact and packable for hunting, boating, security, and general field use.
